James A. Coronato
Research and Information Studies
Dr. Coronato has provided information studies for his clients on topics ranging from computer systems to health supplements, and has solved problems in business, engineering, and research. Much of his current research seeks faster ways to learn and better ways to teach, including accelerated, intuitional, and dream learning techniques. At Carnegie Mellon University he served as consultant to the Materials and Metallurgy Department of Carnegie Mellon, and to such companies as Materials Engineering and Testing, Inc., Export, Pennsylvania; Expert Technologies, Inc., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Rizzo Associates, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; while investigating plate buckling, nonlinear soil-structure interaction phenomena, and dynamic foundation response during graduate studies.
As a Senior Research Engineer and Project Manager for Weidlinger Associates, a leading defense contractor headquartered in New York, James became the first in that firm to hold responsibilities in both Research and Design departments simultaneously, while supervising the R&D program for nuclear-weapons-resistant structures. Although the youngest member of the Research Division, he directed a five-member research team which included a mathematician and two senior engineers.
Communications
As a consultant Dr. Coronato has published articles on industrial creativity, human performance, and time management, as well as a monograph on problem solving using dream techniques. He has helped clients develop resumes, letters, business proposals, presentations, and curriculum vitae, and as a partner with corporate growth specialists Neill & Associates, served as its marketing arm, designing marketing strategies and producing the firm's documents. While Head of the Systems Integration Group at Weidlinger Associates, he regularly conducted presentations to engineers, scientists, and high-ranking military officers, and authored numerous technical memorandums, research reports, project reports, and client studies. His writing style earned his documents the reputation for being "too good to be written by an engineer."
With a history in technical communications, Dr. Coronato has produced technical reports, grant proposals, conference papers, and two graduate theses, in addition to developing sophisticated computer graphics display and data reduction systems to convert technical data to more easily understood pictures.
Teaching
In his current practice as a private consultant, he's conducted seminars in motivation, personal achievement, and esoteric studies through The Learning Network in Austin, Texas, and lectured extensively throughout the United States and Mexico on personal development topics.James has taught mathematics and physics at colleges in Texas and Minnesota, and has always received high marks from his students. One even remarked: "I never imagined I could enjoy a calculus class, but I really did!" As a graduate student he lectured, graded, examined, and counseled students in foundation design, advanced structural design, materials science, and graduate structural vibrations.
