Patricia Mason is a semi-retired choral and instrumental music teacher and conductor who enjoys teaching courses at Bemidji State University as needed. Pat is a charter member of Bemidji Chorale, having helped create the group in 1979. She is the present conductor and has directed the group since 1997. Her undergraduate education in Choral and Instrumental Music was received at Bemidji State University and Mankato State University. Ms. Mason earned her Master’s degree in Music Education at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.
Pat is active in national and state music associations, including the Minnesota Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota, in which she has held the position of Northwest Chair. She is also active in various community music endeavors, is a trumpet player in the Big Band “Swing Delivery,” occasionally participates in the Bemidji Community Band, and has conducted the Elderhostel Choir the past four seasons. As a very active Minnesota State High School Music League Adjudicator and Clinician, Pat has the opportunity to encourage budding young musicians in their musical endeavors.
Patricia Mason was the 2012 recipient of the "Friend of the Arts" award, given by the Bemidji Community Arts Center, for her longstanding support of the arts in Bemidji.
