     This "fictional" book relates the story of when Butch Cassidy hosted a Thanksgiving feast for his rancher friends in the late 1890's.  When a young girl and her mother are stranded on a train during a snowstorm, they are invited to attend this dinner.  Little did the girl know she was being fed by the outlaw, Butch Cassidy himself!  It's a fun story of both fact and fiction, bringing history alive for children in grades 2-5. 

     Butch Cassidy, My Brother

     This book was written in the early 1970's by Butch Cassidy's (Robert LeRoy Parker) youngest sister.  In it she recalls memories of family and stories of her outlaw brother.  She also relates a story of Butch returning home for a visit long after the 1908 gunfight in Bolivia.  Even if some, or most, of her writing is exaggerated, it is an interesting book to read.

   Cassidy & The Sundance Kid

     This is an excellent reference book with information about Butch, Sundance, and the illustrious Etta Place.  Although the author isn't able to tell who the real Etta Place is, or what happened to her, she still gives some interesting information that makes you think. 

     Digging Up Butch & Sundance

     Anne Meadows literally goes on the road to find out the fate of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.  She takes you along on her travels to South America, finding the ranch the two outlaws and Etta lived in and they have the pictures to prove it!  But that's not all, they find a graveyard where the outlaws may be buried, and with experts, dig them up!  Great book for Butch and Sundance enthusiasts!  Click on the Amazon link above if you'd like to purchase this book.

 

     Sundance, My Uncle

    by Donna B. Ernst

     Sundance, My Uncle is a wonderful book with detailed history on Harry Longabaugh, alias the Sundance Kid.  Donna Ernst gives family background, researched information on the robberies Sundance may or may not have participated in, and new pictures of the outlaws when they lived in South America.  It is well researched and well written.  Great book!  Click on the link above to order a copy of your own.
