Music
A way to understand a person is to look at their music. The patterns of notes and harmonies reflect into the life of the person. I listen to three broad classes of music. The smallest class about 10% is Country. Most of this music is of the older Western type or the styles that crossover into Rock. The largest class of music is Rock with a mix of Blues and Jazz. Artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Carly Simon, Eagles, Bon Jovi, and Chuck Berry enter the mix. The last class most people refer to as Classical. I consider the class Instrumental. The Baroque artists such as Mozart and Bach are the backbone of my collection. But then I go to Classical, Neo-Classical, and Modern with composers such as Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Holst, Copland, and Rachmaninov. My Instrumental class doesn't stop there. It continues with Sousa marches, Dixieland Jazz, and Bagpipes.
A typical day might start with a movie theme by Bernstein followed with Jazz by Marion Meadows. Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple followed by The Battle of New Orleans by Johnny Horton could fill the middle of the morning. Lunch at noon could be eaten while listening to the Blues sung by Johnny Lang. The afternoon before the kids come in off the school bus could start with Mike and The Mechanics followed by Dvorak.
I am not sure what my musical tastes tell you about me, but it does say something. It is a pattern within a pattern that makes up a whole.
